Attending Vue Fes Japan

It's been more than 3 years since I visited Japan, but if it were up to me I'd come every year. What I have never done, however, is visit in autumn! I've only visited Japan in summer, but I've heard it's a country very marked by its seasons. So I'm looking forward to seeing this new side of the country.

Now, despite the title of the task, I'm not really coming to Japan only for Vue Fes. I've been meaning to visit Japan in a different season for a while, and I've also been meaning to go back to Kumamoto, where I spent a couple of days in 2016. Given my recent unemployment, and seeing that Vue Fes was coming up, I thought it would be a great opportunity to kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone. I'm not unemployed anymore (though I haven't announced what I'm working on yet), but I'll be able to work remotely. So the trip is on!

There are 2 main things I want to do in Kumamoto. The first one is visiting Reigandō Cave, which is the cave where Miyamoto Musashi spent his last days. If you've been reading my site for a while, you'll already know how much I like all things Musashi. Something else I really like is Manga (and yes, Vagabond is one of my favorites). So it shouldn't surprise you that my other goal in Kumamoto is to visit all 10 One Piece statues. We'll see if I can manage!

Having said that, it's not like I'm not excited for Vue Fes. On the contrary, I'm really looking forward to it! Besides the fact that it's being held in Japan, it also features a keynote by Evan You. And as you may already know, I love Vue. Not only is it my favorite frontend framework, I've also been building a framework for Solid Apps with Vue at its core, and I have finally managed to get a job working with Vue (again, more on that later!). In fact, I'm so excited about this conference that I submitted a couple of proposals for talks. Alas, as you can tell by the lack of my name in the schedule, they weren't accepted 😅. But it should be pretty fun anyway!
